Traditionally, many studies of chemistry focus on the work taking place in laboratories – but in reality chemistry has been practiced in so many other contexts: mining, agriculture, toxicology, courtrooms, medicine, domestic spaces, classrooms, and the list goes on.
Inspired by the theme of the 2022 SHAC Postgraduate Workshop, this page tries to answer the question: what happens to our understanding of chemistry once we follow chemists and chemical substances outside of the laboratory and into the wider world?
